The Booziotis Distinguished Lecture Series Goes Virtual

The Jean and Bill Booziotis Distinguished Lecture Series is going virtual this spring after a successful transition to its first-ever live, virtual broadcast with Stanford’s Dr. Laura Carstensen this past October.

The CVL’s Booziotis Distinguished Lecture series is typically an in-person event held during the spring in Dallas, TX.  However, this year’s events surrounding COVID-19 forced the lecture to move to a virtual platform.  This was the event’s first time to be broadcast online. Attendees tuned in far beyond Dallas, reaching people in countries all over the world, including Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Nigeria.

“While moving to a virtual platform had its challenges, we are thrilled with the success of this event and to be able to reach more people with this type of information,” Dr. Michael Rugg, CVL Director.

Dr. Laura Carstensen, director of the Stanford Center on Longevity, spoke to nearly 200 people on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, about rethinking living our lives from childhood to old age as longer lives present us with the possibility to improve our quality of life. You can watch a portion of the talk below.

The lecture series was established by the late Bill Booziotis and his wife Jean to provide an opportunity for the Dallas community to learn first-hand about the latest research in cognitive neuroscience and aging from leading scientists in the field.

The CVL plans to host another virtual Booziotis Distinguished lecture this spring with a guest speaker soon to be announced. If you would like to receive emails about upcoming events, please subscribe to our mailing list below.
